On July 6, 2012, Border Patrol Agent Leopoldo Cavazos, Jr. of the El Paso Border Patrol Sector was killed in the line of duty as a result of injuries he sustained from an all-terrain vehicle accident near the Fort Hancock Port of Entry in Fort Hancock, Texas.

Agent Cavazos began his career with the U.s. Border Patrol Academy. Following his graduation, he was assigned to the Fort Hancock Station in the El Paso Sector.

Agent Cavazos is survived by his wife Nicole, three daughters, Sahara, Mikaela, and Audrey.
