Fire up the smoker and join us for the National Border Patrol Museum’s 2026 BBQ Showdown & Cornhole Tournament. Compete in Chicken, Pork Ribs, and Cook’s Choice while helping support the museum’s exhibits, educational programs, and collections.
BBQ plates will be for sale from local BBQ experts, and don’t miss the BBQ demonstrations by local experts happening throughout the event!

Competition Categories
Chicken
Bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs.
Pork Ribs
Pork spareribs.
Cook’s Choice
Think beyond traditional barbecue. Cook’s Choice is your opportunity to prepare any savory dish on-site, from smoked queso and stuffed jalapeños to your own original creation. Desserts are not permitted.
Prizes
Winners will be recognized in each category — Chicken, Pork Ribs, and Cook’s Choice — with the top 3 finishers in each earning bragging rights.
Register Your Team
Registration is FREE and includes entry into Chicken, Pork Ribs, and Cook’s Choice. Teams may have from one to six members and are responsible for supplying their own competition meats, cooking equipment, tents, tables, and supplies.

Set Up Begins: 6:00 AM
Cooking Begins: 8:00 AM
Event Opens to the Public: 9:00 AM
Cornhole Registration: 9:00 AM
Cornhole Tournament Starts: 10:00 AM
Chicken Turn In: 12:00 PM
Pork Ribs Turn In: 1:00 PM
Cook’s Choice Turn In: 2:00 PM
Awards Ceremony: 3:00 PM
Event Ends: 4:00 PM

A cornhole tournament will also be held during the event. Please see the flyer below for registration information, tournament format, prizes, and other details.
Spectators Welcome
Spectators are welcome to spend the day watching the competition, exploring the museum, visiting vendors, win door prizes, and enjoying family-friendly activities. Admission information and the full event schedule will be announced closer to the event.
